1922 (21 Nov.) A cover from Canton to Berlin-Steglitz,
Germany, via Hong Kong. Bearing opt. 'CHINA' on
KGV 6c and 10c, tied by 'CANTON' index B, Br.P.O cds,
Webb type Eii. This is an example of the 6c + 10c rate for
overseas mail weight over 20g. On reverse with 'HONG
KONG/22.11.19' transit and 'BERLIN-STEGLITZ'
arrival frame chop in black. 6c rate is seldom seen on
cover.
The Canton Post Office was closed on the 30th Nov.
1922. Webb mentioned the latest date of this cancellation
as 17th October 1922. However the lastest date of this
cancellation recorded in 'Cancellations Of The Treaty
Ports Of Hong Kong' by Hans Schoenfeld is 21st
